Frequently Asked Questions about Undulation Break™

Q:Sometimes I am really too busy to take a break, even for 2 minutes.  How do I skip a break?

A: When the “Time to Undulate” box pops up, you can either click “Cancel This Undulation” or click on your application in the background and the program will skip this cycle.

Q: My upper back and shoulders are my problem areas.  How do I customize the program to target these areas?
A: These undulations are designed specifically for the upper back and shoulders:

  Easy Sway Arms Up,
  Reverse the Slouch,
  Barber Pole,
  Vertical Shoulder Circles,
  Fountain, and
  Horizontal Shoulder Circles

You can either add these undulations in more often or you can remove the undulations other than those listed above.

1.       To add the undulations:

In the Options screen, click “Select Undulations” in the bottom right corner.  In the column on the left, highlight one of the above undulations, then click an undulation in the right hand box and the arrow pointing to the right.  This will add the undulation in the left-hand column to the undulations just before the one you highlighted on the right.   You’ll have to highlight each of the exercises (other than those listed above) and click the arrow, one at a time.

2.       To remove the other undulations:

In the Options screen, click “Select Undulations” in the bottom right corner.  In the column on the right, highlight each undulation other than those listed above and click the arrow pointing to the left.  You’ll have to highlight each of the exercises (other than those listed above) and click the arrow, one at a time.  This will remove them from your selected undulations and leave only the above listed undulations, which are recommended for the upper back and shoulders in the right column.

Q: The default setting of a break every 30 minutes is too frequent (or not frequent enough).  How do I change it?
A: During an Undulation Break, click the “Options” button.  The upper left corner of the Options box gives the timing options.  You can either change it from every 30 minutes to a different cycle (for example, 20, 60 or 90 minutes) or check the boxes for the times that work best in your schedule.  One user set hers for every 20 minutes, the amount of time ergonomic experts recommend between breaks.  Conversely, I set my program for 8:00, 12:30, 2:30 and 6:00, which is when I have time between clients.

Q: Although I usually like the schedule of every 30 (or 60) minutes, some days I am just too busy for even very short breaks.  How do I prevent the program from popping up on these days?

A: There are two ways you can stop the undulation breaks for a day:

1. When the first undulation break pops up, click “Undulate Now” and when the undulation starts, click “Exit Undulation Break.”  That will stop the program from running its typical cycle until you restart your computer.  During your next Windows session, the program will resort to its regular schedule.

2. Or double click the Undulation Break box to start the cycle and then click Options.  On the left hand side of the screen, click “Select None.”  You will not receive Undulation Break reminders until you reset the Options.

Q: At the end of the undulations, I’d like to get back to work rather than read the Undulation Reminder.  How do I get the Break to close more quickly?
A: If the program is showing an undulation video, just click the “End this Session” button.  (Note:  if you click the “Exit Undulation Break” button, the program will close for the rest of the day and not start again until you restart your computer.)  If the Undulation Reminder is already showing, just click on the application in the background to get Undulation Break to close for that session.  If you prefer not to have the Undulation Reminders show at the end of each break, click the “Options” button and uncheck the box for “Show Messages After Undulations,” which is located in the bottom left corner.  Also, you can deselect some of the messages by clicking the “Select Messages” button in the Options box.

Q: How do I change the music selections?

A: You can choose to not play music at all or you can change the music selections.  In either case, click the “Options” button.  The upper right hand corner of the Options box lists the sound options.  To play the program silently, uncheck the button for “Play Music During Undulations.”  To change the music, click on the “Select Music” button and move the music selections that you do not like from the right column to the left column by clicking on the music title and then the left hand arrow.

Q: How do I add my own music to the program?

A: When the program is running, click the “Options” button.  The upper right hand corner of the Options box lists the sound options.  Next click the “Select Music” button, then click the “Browse” button.  You can browse your computer to find your favorite songs and add them by clicking “OK.”  Then find that selection in the left hand column and click the right hand arrow to place the file in the queue.

Q: Some of the undulations are too unusual to do in my office.  For example, my boss or co-workers might think “Snake Arms” is too dramatic for the work setting.  How do I restrict the program to the undulations that work for me?
A: In the Options screen, click “Select Undulations” in the bottom right corner.  In the column on the right, highlight the undulation that you don’t want to include and then click the arrow that points to the left.  You’ll have to highlight each of the exercises that you want to remove and click the arrow, one at a time.
